Honolulu has launched a new J6 shape, same core philosophies as the J2 line, now in an elongated shape with long handles and clean white graphics (goodbye, gray).
The J6 elongated shape is derived from the popular J2 profile, and its stability comes from where it keeps its width (and therefore mass). Most paddles flare wide at the “shoulders” (2 & 10 o’clock) and taper narrower toward 4 & 8. The J2/J6 invert that: they carry more width and material down at ≈4 & 8 than up at the top shoulders. Why that matters:
- Higher twist weight (TW). Mass placed lower on the face, especially near 4/8 instead of only 2/10, increases the paddle’s polar moment of inertia around the handle axis. In plain English: the face resists twisting when you catch the ball off-center.
- Calmer mishits. On blocks, counters, and hand battles, that extra lower-corner mass keeps the face from yawing, so shots hold their line instead of leaking wide.
- Forgiveness without a sluggish feel. Because the added mass sits lower on the head (closer to your hand than pure 3/9 or high-shoulder mass), you gain stability without the same swingweight penalty you’d get from stuffing weight high at 12 o’clock.
- Predictable launch. A steadier face at impact means flatter, more repeatable trajectories, especially on quick flicks and punch volleys.
For context, the earlier J7NF used the more common taper (wide at 2/10, leaner at 4/8). J6 follows the J2-style “inverted” taper, which is why it feels noticeably more composed on contact than many elongated peers.
Model quick take:
- J6NF = punchier & flatter (firmer core feel, tighter launch).
- J6FC+ = softer & longer dwell (plusher pocketing, wider perceived sweet spot).
J6NF - Full-foam core + EVA ring, carbon face
• Feel: firmer, tighter launch; crisper feedback (think J2NF, but elongated/long-handle)
J6FC+ - Full-foam core + floating core ring, carbon face
• Feel: plusher dwell, wider sweet spot (J2FC+ vibes, now elongated/long-handle)
