From the moment I picked up the 11six24 Hurache Alpha 1, I could tell this paddle was something special. The elongated shape felt instantly familiar, yet the balance was unlike anything I’d used before. As someone who values both power and touch in my game, I was excited to see how the Alpha 1 would perform and it didn’t disappoint.

Power and Baseline Play

The first thing I noticed during baseline rallies was the effortless power. The CFC (Carbon Fiber Composite) surface combined with the cutting-edge core gave me the confidence to swing freely, knowing that the paddle would transfer energy efficiently into each shot. The drives were deep and penetrating, but what surprised me was how easy it was to control those hard shots. Even when going for big power, I didn’t feel like I was sacrificing precision. The swing weight between 116-118 helps generate serious force, but not at the expense of control.

I’ve used other paddles that pack power, but they often leave me struggling with consistency. With the Alpha 1, I found a perfect balance where I could hit with power from the baseline, yet still keep the ball in the court.

NetPlay and Touch

At the net, the Hurache Alpha 1 really came into its own. The increased dwell time gave me so much control in soft exchanges. Drop volleys, dinks, and resets were all easy to place with precision, and I didn’t have to worry about the ball flying off the paddle when I didn’t want it to. The plush, soft feel at the net is something I hadn’t experienced to this degree with other paddles.

When resetting hard shots or engaging in dink battles, I felt completely in control. The ball seemed to stick to the paddle just long enough to give me the confidence to angle my shots exactly where I wanted. This gave me an edge, especially during those quick-fire exchanges where touch is everything. The paddle wasn’t overly soft either, which I appreciated. there’s still enough firmness to punch volleys back with authority when needed.

Spin Potential

Spin with the Hurache Alpha 1 was another pleasant surprise. I enjoy incorporating topspin into my drives and using slices to throw off my opponents, and the Alpha 1 didn’t let me down. The CFC face and the extended dwell time combined to create just the right conditions for generating spin. Serves had extra kicks, and groundstrokes stayed low with good topspin, making it harder for my opponents to handle.

The spin wasn’t overwhelming. it didn’t feel like the paddle was forcing too much spin on every shot. Instead, it was perfectly controllable, and I was able to adjust the amount of spin to suit the shot, which is key for me as a versatile player.

Maneuverability and Comfort

Despite the elongated design, the Alpha 1 felt perfectly balanced in my hand. Weighing in at 8.0-8.3 oz, it didn’t feel too heavy during quick volleys, nor did it feel too light to handle aggressive baseline play. The handle length of 6 inches was perfect for my two-handed backhands, providing just the right amount of leverage while remaining maneuverable at the net.

The paddle’s responsiveness, especially in fast-paced exchanges, stood out to me. Whether blocking drives or going for quick reflex volleys, I felt that the Alpha 1 allowed me to react faster, and I never felt like I was swinging too much paddle around.

Pros and Cons of the 11six24 Hurache Alpha 1

Pros:

  • Balanced Power and Control: The Alpha 1 delivers exceptional power from the baseline while maintaining an impressive touch at the net.
  • Soft Feel with Increased Dwell Time: Perfect for players who want to feel the ball linger just long enough to place it precisely, especially during soft play.
  • High Spin Potential: Great for players who rely on topspin, slice, and varied shot techniques.
  • Maneuverability: Despite its elongated shape, it’s quick and responsive during fast net exchanges.
  • Affordable: At $150, and even better at $140 with code SLICE10, it offers high-end performance without the high-end price.
  • Long Handle: 6 inches handle is great for two-handed backhands.

Cons:

  • Not a Pure Power Paddle: While it delivers good power, it’s not designed to be a full-on power paddle like some others, so if you’re looking for maximum power alone, this might not be the best fit.
  • Slight Learning Curve: The increased dwell time is a plus, but it may take a few sessions to fully adjust if you’re used to paddles with less ball contact time.

Comparisons with Competitor Paddles

Now that I’ve shared my personal experience with the Hurache Alpha 1, it’s worth comparing it to other top paddles on the market to see how it truly measures up.

Ronbus Ripple R1.14 Beta ($250)

The Ronbus Ripple R1.14 Beta is known for its excellent power and lower swingweight. At $250, it's a premium paddle, and while it does offer good power play and manoeuvrability, I didn’t find it offered much more in terms of control compared to the Alpha 1. In fact, the Alpha 1 feels just as precise at the net, but with more controlled drives from the baseline. The Ronbus Ripple R1.14 Beta is fantastic for players who prioritize power drives and fast hands, but I found the Hurache Alpha 1 to provide a more balanced feel, especially when transitioning between offence and defence. And at $140 with the SLICE10 discount, the Alpha 1 offers much better value for money.

Persues 3 and Mod TA ($280)

The Persues 3 and Mod TA are all about spin and power, making it a strong competitor if you like to dominate with topspin and slice. However, at $280, it’s significantly pricier than the Alpha 1, and I didn’t feel the extra cost was justified. The Alpha 1 generated plenty of spin without compromising on power, something I found both the Persues 3 and MOD TA struggled with. While the Persues 3/ MOD TA excels in shot power and spin, the Alpha 1 offers a more complete package with better power and a softer touch at the net.

Gearbox Pro Power Elongated ($275)

The Gearbox Pro Power Elongated is definitely designed for power players, and it’s known for its strength in baseline drives. However, I found the Alpha 1 to be more forgiving in terms of control, especially at the net. The Gearbox is great for those who want to hit hard and fast, but the Alpha 1 balances power and soft-touch play better, making it a more versatile option for all-court players. Plus, at $140 with the discount, you’re getting similar performance without the $275 price tag.

Final Verdict: The 11six24 Hurache Alpha 1 Stands Out

After playing extensively with the 11six24 Hurache Alpha 1, I’m convinced this paddle is one of the best values on the market today. It offers a rare combination of power, control, spin, and soft touch, making it suitable for a wide range of playing styles. Whether you’re driving from the baseline or engaging in soft dinks at the net, this paddle adapts beautifully.

At $140 with the SLICE10 discount, the Alpha 1 gives you premium performance at an accessible price, far below its competitors' $250 to $280 range. It’s the perfect choice for players who want to elevate their game without breaking the bank, and its versatility makes it a standout option for both offensive and defensive play.

If you’re looking for a paddle that can do it all. power, spin, and control. while staying within a reasonable budget, the 11six24 Hurache Alpha 1 is an easy recommendation.
